An Improved Decision Feedback Scheme for SC- FDE Wireless Communication Systems

چکیده

—This paper proposes an improved decision based feedback scheme for Single carrier transmission with frequency domain equalisation (SC-FDE) communication systems. The approach exploits a processed version of the decisions made in symbol estimation such that the optimisation problem of the equalisation parameters in the frequency domain and the time domain becoming separable and simpler INTRODUCTION INGLE carrier transmission with frequency domain equalisation (SC-FDE) is a promising alternative approach to the OFDM based systems for wireless communication applications. This is particularly true when higher frequency bands are considered, such as the case for future systems in the millimetre wave spectrum. With the help of a cyclic prefix to a block structure of time domain symbols, the SC-FDE technology enables a receiver to exploit some readily available computationally efficient techniques for mitigating frequency selective fading impairments. More specifically, the existence of the cyclical extension of the transmitted time domain symbol sequence makes the treatment of the channel equalisation problem in the frequency domain via FFT operations convenient and economic. Fundamentally, SC-DFE differs from OFDM in that the transmitted symbols are modulated on a single carrier instead of that involving multiple sub-carriers, which results in the former has a lower peak-to-average transmitter power ratio. This alleviates the constraining aspects on the transceiver's analogue components and has less demanding linear dynamic range for power amplifiers. On the other hand, the ability of
